New York Jets - 2015 Projections

New York Jets

Overall Outlook
The New York Jets cut ties with Rex Ryan in favor of Toddy Bowles after a disappointing 2014. The change will force the Jets to go through some major growing pains in 2015. Expect Chris Ivory to take a step forward toward RB relevance, look for Brandon Marshall to add some respectability to the passing game, and be ready for Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie to shut down all but the best passing games.  With all the changes in the offseason, we see the Jets finishing around .500, but being more consistent and losing some close games this NFL season.

Offseason Moves
Key additions:  QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, RB Stevan Ridley, WR Brandon Marshall, OT Corey Hilliard, OT James Brewer, G James Carpenter, DE/DT Stephen Bowen, DE/DT Kevin Vickerson, ILB Erin Henderson, ILB Jamari Lattimore, ILB Joe Mays, CB Darrelle Revis, CB Antonio Cromartie, CB Buster Skrine, S Marcus Gilchrist
Key losses: FB John Conner, WR Percy Harvin, WR Greg Salas, NT Kenrick Ellis, ILB Nick Bellore, CB Kyle Wilson, CB Phillip Adams, S Dawan Landry

Offensive Outlook
The Jets offense ranked 3rd in the league in rushing in 2014, unfortunately, the team was dead last in passing as well. So, the Jets went out and signed Brandon Marshall, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and drafted Devin Smith to help improve their lack of explosiveness. These ingredients, along with a new offensive concept, could create some interesting sleeper options in New York. We see improvement in the offense that could help a fantasy team some weeks, but nothing that will take your FF squad to the top.

Projections - 2015
QB1 - Ryan Fitzpatrick - Passing - 3400 yds / 18 tds  Rushing - 150 yds / 1 td
RB1 - Chris Ivory - Rushing - 1000 yds / 6 tds  Receiving - 20 recs / 150 yds / 1 td
RB2 - Bilal Powell - Rushing - 500 yds / 3 tds  Receiving - 30 recs / 225 yds / 0 tds
WR1 - Brandon Marshall - Receiving - 70 recs / 900 yds / 7 tds
WR2 - Eric Decker - Receiving - 65 recs / 750 yds / 3 tds
WR3 - Jeremy Kerley - Receiving - 35 recs / 400 yds / 2 tds
TE1 - Jace Amaro - Receiving - 45 recs / 500 yds / 3 tds

Defensive Outlook
The New York defense has been a strength of the Jets organization for a decade. However, last year the tea struggled in this department, ranking 28th in yards allowed, and 9th in points allowed in 2014. We expect major improvements with Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie added to the defensive backfield. Expect some growing pains in working in a new system, but watch out once they start clicking.
