2014 NFL Draft - Round 5 - Fantasy Football Impact

Let's take a look at the offensive Fantasy Football impact of the 5th round in the NFL draft. Only six offensive players were chosen, but a few could be diamonds in the rough.

Ryan Grant  - WR - Tulane - The former Green Wave player was selected by the Washington Redskins to compete for the 4th/5th WR in DC.  Grant good route runner and has very good hands, but a 4.64 40 time hurt his stock in the draft. We don't see much coming of Grant anytime soon, expect him to be available a free agent in dynasty leagues.

Devin Street  - WR - Pittsburgh -  This Pittsburgh product is 6'3" and 200 pounds was selected by Dallas to compete for backup duties. There isn't a ton of talent in the Cowboys WR core outside of Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams, so Street could make an impact if he shows flashes early.  He'll likely be available at the end of dynasty rookie drafts.

Arthur Lynch  - TE - Georgia - The ex-Georgia Bulldog is not expected to make an impact as a pass catcher. He is good at blocking and may be used in sub packages, but that's about it. He'll be a free agent in 2014 dynasty leagues.

Aaron Murray  - QB - Georgia - Another Georgia alum, who could make some waves in the NFL is Aaron Murray. Selected by the Kansas City Chiefs, Murray will start his career as a backup, learning a good offense, behind a veteran QB.  If he develops well, he will eventually compete to be the starter. He'll be a free agent in 2014

AJ McCarron  - QB - Alabama - The most interesting pick in the fifth round was made by the Cincinnati Bengals, selecting a two time national champion QB AJ McCarron. Andy Dalton has gone 0-3 in playoff games in his career, and is due for a new contract, but if the Bengals don't like what they see out of Dalton this year, there could be a chance McCarron gets his shot in 2015. If you have Dalton, be sure to take a look at him, because he has what it takes to be a starter in the NFL. Expect him to be a late round selection in deeper rookie dynasty drafts.

Jared Abbrederis  - WR - Wisconsin - The Badgers star was picked and will play for his favorite childhood team, the Green Bay Packers. With recent departures of James Jones, Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, and Jermichael Finley, there will be some targets available for the taking. Abbrederis will have to beat out guys like Jarrett Boykin, Davante Adams, and Jeff Janis for a chance, but we like his skill set and his work ethic. Expect him to be selected in the 4th or 5th round of most dynasty rookie drafts.
