2014 NFL Draft - Round 4 & 5 - IDP Fantasy Football Impact

The 2014 NFL draft, 4th & 5th round defenders that could make an impact.

IDP Watch List- Rounds 4 & 5

Khairi Fortt - ILB - CAL - The one year Cal Bear was chosen by the New Orleans Saints as a linebacking project. Fortt looks the part of an inside linebacker and has intriguing, starter-caliber athleticism, but needs time to develop. He will be a free agent in 2014 dynasty leagues but should definitely be on the radar as he moves up the depth chart.

Kevin Pierre-Louis - OLB - Boston - The Boston alum will be switching coasts to Seattle to play for the Seahawks.  Pierre-Louis was a productive college LB and is well built for the NFL. We don't see him making an impact early in his career, but could be a nice WLB down the road.

Tre Boston - SS - North Carolina - The former Tar Heels star was a three-year starter with experience at safety and corner. Selected by the Carolina Panthers, Boston will have to improve his instincts and his maturity to be a factor in the future. We don't see much action for him with Carolina's current defensive backfield.

Cassius Marsh - DE - UCLA - The UCLA Bruin was selected by the Seattle Seahawks for his high-motor and steady play while in college. He fits the mold of DE that the Seahawks love, but due to all the talent ahead of him, we don't see immediate impact.

Brock Vereen - FS - Minnesota - The former Golden Gopher couldn't have landed in a better spot than the Chicago Bears. Chris Conte is the only player ahead of him on the depth chart and Vereen brings terrific intangibles that could propel him into a role as a starter and defensive leader. He will be available late in dynasty football drafts, but could produce early in his career.

Telvin Smith - LB - Florida St - The Jacksonville Jaguars scored a gem in the 5th round selecting the Florida State product Smith. The kid has All-Pro potential and will get his opportunity early in his career to produce at WLB. He'll likely be a 4th round pick in most dynasty fantasy leagues.

Lamin Barrow - LB - LSU - Another solid linebacker from the 5th round is Denver's Barrow.  The LSU stud is tough, football smart, and a highly respected team captain. Expect him to get a chance at MLB sometime soon in his career. Barrow will be a 5th round pick in 2014 dynasty IDP drafts.

Chris Smith - DE - Arkansas - The ex-Razorback has an opportunity to compete with the Jacksonville Jaguars.  Smith has good finishing speed and hustle in pursuit which translates well to the pros.  He won't get much attention this year, but if he performs he could become a starter.

Avery Williamson - ILB - Kentucky - The former Wildcat was selected to play middle linebacker for the Tennessee Titans.  Williamson is smart, understands the game, and can make all the on-field adjustments naturally. He projects as a backup with some slight upside if he becomes a starter.
